The Sangha sought permission from Government of Karnataka and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to start Bachelor’s Degree programme in Physical Therapy, in the year 1997. Both statutory bodies permitted to start the course with an intake of 25 students to be trained in the Department of Physiotherapy of the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (accorded sanction). Today the Department has grown up in facility and faculty. Gained an independent identity, with the name, “Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy”, named after the ruler ‘Sri Kempegowda’, the founder of Bangalore City.
