NIRM is the only institution in south Asia exclusively devoted to research in rock mechanics. Over the period of last 25 years, the institute has the privilege to provide its expertise to various central, state government agencies.

Develop innovative methods of mining under adverse geomining conditions for unlocking precious mineral wealth in synergy with the national mineral policy.
Mission
The Mission of NIRM is to support the mining and construction industries in safety and resource optimisation by way of providing our expertise in the fields of scientific design of mine workings, design of rock excavations and support systems.
