The College which was established in July 1991 with the name 'College of Commerce and Business Management' has been renamed as Upendra Pai Memorial College from the academic year 1997-98, to commemorate the birth centinary of late Upendra Pai, the elder brother of late Dr. T.M.A. Pai who was the backbone of all activities of Dr. T.M.A. Pai in the field of Banking and Education.
